Collecting Klein: Cheryl Horsley
Vintage collector, Cheryl Horsley, shares her story of discovering Bernat Klein.
I purchased my first Bernat Klein suit in 2013 from a vintage fair in Liverpool Town Hall. I remember paying £45 for it, which was quite a lot for me at the time. It only just fitted but I knew I had to have it!
And here my addiction was born.
I’m obsessed with Klein’s sublime use of colour. It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before. His organic and almost psychedelic designs are simply magnificent. Each piece is a work of art.
I’ve been dealing in vintage fashion for eleven years now, and Bernat Klein has to be my favourite designer. He combines all my favourite things about that era - print, colour and design - and it brings me pure joy when I wear any of his pieces.
I opened my shop, 'The Vintage Corner' in 2013, and since then my passion for Klein has been passed on to many of my customers. I’ve sold a number of Bernat Klein pieces over the years and always share photos when I wear my collection.
Anything I sell is usually snapped up in minutes! It’s so hard to source Bernat Klein pieces now, so they are vintage gold dust!
I’ve paid anything from £10 to £120 for pieces in my collection, finding most on eBay added to with a few bought from my customers. I am a true Bernat Klein junkie!
